Megan Whitbread receives Highly commeded Award at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2017
18th January 2018
Our Megan Whitbread, currently in the third year of her apprenticeship journey at TB+A was one of three finalists in the Advanced Apprentice category at the National Apprenticeship Awards in London last night (Thursday 18th January 2018). In this hotly contested category, Megan did exceptionally well to reach the final three having won the London region final in October to go on to recieve a highly commended award at the national final yesterday.
The awards took place at the prestigious Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London and are the most respected of their kind being a Government initiative. The awards celebrate apprentices and employers from all different sectors across the UK who demonstrate excellence and commitment to apprenticeships.
On recieving the award, Megan commented:
"I am both humbled and honoured to be a finalist for the Advanced Apprenticve award. My apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to gain practical experience and vital knowledge from the very best engineers whilst achieving qualifications at the same time.
Having completed my Advanced Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering this year, I’ve now progressed on to the brand new Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) Degree Apprenticeship at London Southbank University and will graduate in four years to progress to a Master’s degree and go on to obtain Chartership as a Building Services Engineer. My plan is to continue learning from those around me and through the wider industry, and my aspiration is to be the first female Partner of the business.
To reach the final three in the UK and to pick up a Highly commended award will provide me with a platform to encourage more young females to consider engineering as a career of choice as well as inspire people who have an interest in, or are looking to start an apprenticeship, to show them just how far it can take you. That it can be truly life changing and that with the support of a fantastic apprenticeship scheme and employer, such as Troup Bywaters + Anders anything is possible!”
