Greenhouse Project, Leeds
The Greenhouse Project involved the part-refurbishment and part-new-build of a redundant art-deco hostel in South Leeds.
This distinctive development comprises 172 one, two and three bedroom apartments plus high-specification creative work spaces.
The building comprises of rectangular perimeter with an internal courtyard. The completed development also includes amenities to the ground floor including a Gym, Deli, Office Facilities etc and basement car parking.
The building uses borehole water, 80m below ground, with the aquifer having a high enough water flow rate to design the GSHP system to provide heating, cooling and the help with the domestic hot water!
Solar panels and wind turbines are located on the roof with a further 33m diameter wind turbine located close to the development and grey water & rainwater harvesting saves valuable resources.
