Loughborough College, Leicester

TB+A were appointed by Pick Everard Architects to carry out the building services design of this £11m ‘The Hub’ and School of Visual Performing Arts developments at Loughborough College as part of an ‘ongoing’ upgrade of the facilities.

The Hub Project comprises the provision of a new build facility of approximately 3100m² together with associated diversions and external works, demolition of some existing buildings or part buildings.

The ‘Visual Performing Arts’ facility is a separate and standard alone building but with close adjacencies to ‘The Hub’ Arts department located next to the proposed site and had to be kept operational. The BREEAM target for this project was BREEAM 2011 Public Building Excellent.

The Performing Arts provides:

  • 250 Seat theatre
  • Recording studios
  • IT suite
  • Classrooms + Lecture theatre
  • Mac IT suite and studio
  • Controlrooms

It also provides New entrance and reception, LRC, A central café, Educational/Student support. Opportunity for exhibition and events (such as enrolments and graduation ceremonies).

The project was constructed in 58 weeks by contractor Willmott Dixon.
