The Crown Estate’s central London portfolio in Regent Street and St James includes heritage buildings, premium retail, and world-class dining. Managing such a large and high-profile estate makes environmental compliance and consistent operations essential.

To address a lack of evidence of waste management, TB+A were appointed to scope and manage a programme of FOG audits.

A key challenge of this project was balancing technical compliance with the day-to-day realities of busy hospitality environments.

Despite this, through coordinated scheduling and clear communication, the project was successfully completed within the agreed timeframe and scope, delivering measurable value to both the client and the tenant community.

The client gained a consolidated view of FOG compliance across the estate enabled the client to identify patterns, prioritise risks, and establish a proactive compliance strategy.

Tenants received clear, actionable recommendations ranging from maintenance practices to system upgrades.

Early identification of non-compliance reduced the likelihood of drainage blockages, system failures, and reputational damage — all of which could have had financial and operational consequences for the client and the tenants.

The close-out report not only documented the results of the audit programme but also established a framework for continuous compliance, future audits, tenant onboarding, and wider sustainability initiatives.

This project strengthened The Crown Estate’s environmental compliance framework and enhanced the reliability of estate-wide waste management systems.
